"An industrial capitalist society that does not recognize ecological limits but only perpetual economic expansion and has the profit motive as driver, will eventually consume and destroy itself."
Robert Zemeckis, who's directing credits include Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, and Cast Away, directed Beowulf, which should be coming out in November and it looks like Angelina Jolie will be playing Grendel's Mother. Crazy!
Seriously, were they too distracted by the front-page ads to think this one through?

a product of my online TV obsessions... so basically, well after the season is over....
I find out that the next Survivor is going to be in mainland China... my guess is Sichuan--they said mainland, in a forest known for tigers & pandas... so it's got to be south and west (ish), and not Tibet. But it could be Shaanxi or Gansu... anyway....
I'd apply... but basically I'm not in shape at all... they don't cast for a bit... so there's still time to apply... I think a former GC China SSTer should definitely try. Heck, any GC kid should try!
linkText After watching a free showing of "night of the hunter" and mccarren pool in brooklyn and getting sufficiently sloshed, I wandered with some friends down to see the midnight showing of harry potter. The story line was depressingly simplistic but the cinematography was pretty damn good, the acting was up to par, the production design of the ministry of magic was awesome and it had some pretty exciting moments.
other important news: the 7-11 on 23rd street is NOT serving free slurpees today. Fortunatly JetBlue was right down the street handing out free ice cream, so the journey was not a total loss.
Me with the steadi-cam
but you have to imagine that what's on top is a sweet-ass 35mm ArriCam Lite instead of a metal box with a little DV camera inside
